MillerMusmar CPAs was proud to sponsor and attend the 48th Annual Fairfax County Valor Awards, hosted by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce.

Held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Reston, the event brought together leaders from across Northern Virginia to honor the extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and selfless service of our region’s first responders.

This longstanding tradition recognizes members of Fairfax County’s police, fire and rescue, sheriff’s office, and public safety communications teams, as well as local departments including Herndon and Vienna. Honorees are awarded distinctions such as the Lifesaving Award, Certificate of Valor, and the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medal of Honor—each representing remarkable acts of courage and dedication in service to the community.

The ceremony was both powerful and inspiring, highlighting real stories of heroism that underscore the risks first responders face every day and the unwavering commitment they bring to protecting others. MillerMusmar CPAs is honored to support an event that shines a light on these individuals and their impact on our community.

Honoring Bravery: Officer Ian H. LaChapelle

At the Valor Awards, we were especially honored to host Ian H. LaChapelle at the MillerMusmar table as he received the Silver Medal of Valor.

On April 23, near Greenbriar Town Center, what began as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated when an armed individual became agitated and refused to comply with officers. Within seconds, gunfire erupted, and two officers were struck. In that critical moment, Officer LaChapelle acted swiftly and decisively—stopping the threat and preventing further harm. His actions ultimately saved the lives of his fellow officers.

His courage under pressure is a powerful reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face every day. We are proud to stand in recognition of his bravery and service.
