Unclaimed Property (ESCHEAT)

Most states have escheat laws which require companies to report and return unclaimed property to the state.  Liabilities can extend back 10 years or more.  This law created a significant distraction to a company's core operations. We have experience in assisting clients facing multi-state abandoned property examinations conducted by state administrators or third-party contract auditors, and have negotiated amnesty and voluntary compliance agreements to resolve abandoned property liabilities.  Finally, we develop proper accounting and abandoned property compliance procedures along with abandoned property planning opportunities.
